If you’ve been following my blog over the past two months, you’ve most likely noticed that I’ve been spending quite a bit of time reviewing beers in an attempt to achieve my goal of drinking 1 beer from each of the 50 states in 50 days. Read the details here.

The deadline I originally set for myself was July 5, 2011 and unfortunately I was only able to complete 28 out of the 50 beers in that time frame. However that deadline was a little aggressive so I’m deciding to keep trying to reach my goal and extend the deadline another 50 days.

There were a few main reasons why I wasn’t able to accomplish the goal in the first 50 days and I’m fine with them:

  • It’s really hard to find beers from the East Coast since I live on the west coast.
  • Shipping beer is expensive and I maxed out my budget. I did a few beer trades and ordered a few online. With shipping as much as $20 each, it adds up pretty quickly.
  • It’s the summer and I’ve been travelling. It’s hard to write reviews everyday when I’m on the road.
  • Sometimes I just want to drink a local beer, especially if I’m going out to eat.

I still am excited to keep on going and working towards my goal and will have it reached by August 24, 2011.

If you’re able to help me at all, you can check out the contact page for my shipping address to send beers from the states I still need. 🙂

The states I’ve been unable to get so far are:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Connecticut
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • North Carolina
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin

  1. As an Iowan – let me know if I can hook you up with anything. Maybe we can work out a trade or something.

  2. Ooh, I could definitely send you a Wisconsin beer and South Dakotan beer! There’s only one brewery in SD so you’re limited with your choices- their IPA is their most popular- but if you want to pick a brewery or a specific brew from Wisconsin, I’d be happy to try to hunt it down for you in the next week or so. Email me and let me know!

  3. Bumskis, dude. I just picked up a bunch of Virginia and Carolina beers the other week when I was down south. You unfortunately will not be receiving any of my precious stores, though. Best of luck in completing this awesome task (the 50x version of a marathon, whatever that is).

  4. Kansas- don’t live ther anymore but contact Free State Brewing-awesome beer and great people!
    Lawrence, KS

  5. I can hook you up with some Kansas and possibly Oklahoma beer. Maybe we could work out a trade. Love me some west coast beer.

  6. I live in Connecticut! Perhaps we could work out a trade or something? We have a few pretty great local brews.

  7. Goodluck buddy! you’re almost there. I wish for your success and I hope I can get to try this beer in the future. Thanks!

  8. I left a message earlier- I’ve got an SD beer here waiting to head your way. Still need a Wisconsin beer too? Let me know either way.
