In more somber news, according to a story from The Canadian Press, Six wild elephants were electrocuted in India yesterday as they got drunk went crazy after drinking rice beer brewed in India’s remote northeast, a wildlife official reported today.
Apparently stuck by a severe case of the Beer Munchies, the 40-strong herd reportedly uprooted an electric pole while desperately searching for food in Chandan Nukat, a village nearly 240 kilometres west of Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya state, said Sunil Kumar, a state wildlife official.
Dipu Mark, a local conservationist, told The Canadian Press,
“There would have been more casualties had the villagers not chased them away,”
The elephants are known to have a taste for rice beer brewed by tribal communities in India’s northeast.
