Twenty-eight-year-old Scott Kerkmans recently beat out nearly 8,000 applicants for the position of CBO: Chief Beer Officer for national hotel chain The Four Points by Sheraton. Yes, you read that correctly. The University of New Mexico grad has landed what is truly his (and beer lovers the world over) dream job. Kerkmans told National Public Radio,

“At first, I thought my friends would be happy for me. Well, it turns out they’re just jealous.”

The Four Points by Sheraton hired Kerkmans to run the hotel chain’s “Best Brews” program, which hopes to attract guests who appreciate craft beer. His job requires him to visit breweries regularly and hold monthly tastings and beer dinners at hotels throughout North America. According to NPR, Kerkmans is here to educate the masses about beer. If you drink a brew in a Four Points by Sheraton from here on out, chances are it was chosen after one of Kerkmans’ rigorous morning tasting sessions. Yes, morning. Need an assistant, Scott?
