Mike Roy, formerly of Milly’s Tavern in NH, reported last week that he’s taken a new brewing position at Salem Beer Works (a division of Boston Beer Works) in Salem, MA. He’s been training at Boston Beer Works, but made the move to Salem effective September 1st. A sad loss for Milly’s Tavern fans, as Mike’s beers are pretty much legendary in the New England beer geek circles, but a huge gain for the sometimes run-of-the-mill beer works brews. Good luck, Mike!

Rumors
Mike told Beer Advocate Magazine that there’s “a lot of opportunity for the future at Beer Works”. Some of which he acknowledged by confirming a few Beer Works rumors that have been floating around:1) Yes, there is talk of a Beer Works restaurant location at Logan Airport but sorry, it won’t be a brewpub.

2) BBW might purchase an existing production brewery in the region, but he could not say where.

3) Mike also talked of expantions to the brewpub chain. Rumors of Rhode Island and Worcester have circulated but cannot be confirmed.
