It’s official! Initial reports out of the Rock Art camp (both at rockartbrewery.com and the company’s Facebook page) are that Hansens Beverage and Monster Energy drinks have dropped their lawsuit against Rock Art for copyright infringment from their use of the name “Vermonster” on the company’s 10th anniversary barleywine (if you have no idea what I’m talking about, see my initial posts about the lawsuit here and here).

The brewery’s website currently reads,

VICTORY! America, you have saved The Vermonster! Your voice has caused corporate America to rethink its position. We can continue to brew our beer as we have since 2006!! Yea!! Huge victory for the people!! Power to the people! Power belongs to the people!!

And then goes on to say that the brewery will release an official statement soon. So more info to come as it becomes available but this is definitely a HUGE victory, both for Rock Art itself and for the craft brewing industry as a whole. Really for small businesses everywhere, since it proves that, with the support of loyal patrons, we really can fight corporate America and come out victorious. Well done all!
