This time next week I’m going to be in Las Vegas for a few days for Blog World. Basically if you haven’t heard of it, Blog World is a conference for bloggers and new media related businesses. This will be my first time at the conference, and I’m hoping to make some good connections and learn some new things to make Blog About Beer even better.
If you’re going to Blog World let me know and maybe we can meet up for a beer.
Of course this blog is about beer, which brings me to the real point of this post. When I’m in Vegas I’ll be staying at the Luxor, which will be the first time I’ve stayed there. If it’s like my past experiences staying in Vegas, the craft beer selection will be limited to mostly bigger named beers such as Fat Tire and Blue Moon.
I have 3 questions for you to answer in the comments section below.
- Where can I find good craft beer in Vegas near the strip?
- Are there any good bottle shops near by?
- Are there any good local beers I should try?

Not too much within walking distance of the strip…although I haven’t had Sin City yet (they brew offsite and have brewhouses in a few hotels). Check out http://www.pubquest.com for everything in the area. Cheers!
I was out there in August and really didn’t find much on the main strip. Then again, I wasn’t looking too hard. I did try some Fat Tire at a bar in the Mirage, but that was it. I believe they have The Yard House out there somewhere, which has an excellent selection.

Well your not in a bad spot. There is a great Irish bar in the shops that connect Mandalay Bay and the Luxor. It called RiRa and usually has a small selection of craft beers, with a good selection of imports. Also in that same are is the Burger Bar. They tend to have a very good selection of beers but can be on the pricey side.
If you have a car at your disposal I would recommend a trip to Money Plays, Its a small dive bar about 10 min from where your at. Excellent beer selection and really friendly people. A little further away is Ace’s and Ales which is probably the best spot in town. Food is excellent, and beer selection is better. There is also Freakin Frog which is a little closer to you, its right by UNLV. They have a limited tap list, but a massive,bottle selection. You really have to see it to believe it.
As far as local breweries…its kind a a desert for craft breweries. Tenaya Creek is the best and you’ll find a few bars that will pour their beers. They also have a little bar but it is a little ways up north. Joseph James is another local but there beer is extremely hit, and miss. Sin City as mentioned above is on the strip but it is not good.
Your best bet for a bottle shop is looking for a Lees Discount Liquor and Total Wine, or a Whole Foods. There is also a place called Kouhrys Fine wine and spirits, it is a great shop but much smaller.

Tenaya Creek Brewery on Tenaya and Cheyenne across from Mountainview Hospital – ask for Anthony Gibson, the brewmaster, if you call ahead a week in advance, he might be able to give you a tour. They just had a seasonal Oatmeal Stout that was the best I’ve ever had.
Big Dogs brewpub out on Sahara is another great place.
