Popular online Social Networking blog Mashable.com today had a post describing 18 different iPhone applications all centered around drinking. Most of them were lame “guess your BAC level” and “R U Drunk” tests and shouldn’t get a second mention. But one of the applications, however, does seem really neat (neat enough that I may download it onto my girlfriend’s iPhone when she’s not paying attention). The application, which is called BeerPad, is reportedly for, the…

The blog oddee.com the other day listed 7 of the coolest beer gadgets in the known (robot) universe (thanks Wren, for pointing them out!). Some of my favorites included the R/C Cooler, which really touches on my pension for laziness: And the beer launching fridge… because there’s just something about drinking a beer that really makes me want to play catch. Check out the sweet video demonstration: Robotic Beer Launching Refrigerator – video powered by…

Tom Quinn and ethanol scientist Floyd Butterfield founded the E-Fuel Corporation in March 2007 to create efficient ethanol micro-refinery products for people who want to break their dependency on oil. And it looks like they’ve done it. And done it using beer. The company recently rolled out a portable machine called the MicroFueleris, which is about the size of a stackable washer-dryer and could easily fit in a standard driveway. The MicroFueler produces ethanol that…

Al from Hop Talk has created a WordPress plugin which integrates a BrewPoll “vote” button into every blog post. BrewPoll  — the latest social networking site to hit the Interwebs — is a digg-like site where users share content from around the web with one another and “vote” on the articles they like the best. The posts and sites with the most votes naturally rise to the top. As you may have guessed from the…

Self-serve tables with their own draft taps (and metered displays) have begun popping up in European bars — Pilsen, Czechoslovakia’s new Pilsner Unique Bar and Dublin, Ireland’s 300-year old Baggot Inn, for instance — and they seem like a pretty cool idea. With them you’ll be able to sample a number of different brews, and be able to top off your glass without ordering an entire pint. They do remove one of the best parts…

I received an e-mail tip this evening alerting me to a new service from cheapflights.com called the Beer-Lovers’ Airport Guide. The guide, which is available in either PDF text or download-able podcast form, shows where to find the best brews in 15 of the country’s busiest airports. Some of the highlights from the guide include, Gordon Biersch in Terminal D at McCarran International in Las Vegas serves up the best Pilsners. Laurelwood Brewing Company just…

I just thought this would be a fun way to wind down the work week: I found in my aimless Internet travels this morning an image of an R2D2 model the artist amoebabloke made from an old wooden beer barrel. image via deviantart.com The artist would like to see the piece go to someone “with a genuine love for this sort of thing not someone with deep pockets who would buy it on a whim.”…

The BeerTender, a beer storing-and-pouring product made by Heineken in conjunction with appliance manufacturer Krups, has long been a favorite across Europe but hasn’t ever succesfully made the trip stateside. That is, until now. Krups announced today in a press release that, “San Francisco-based Williams-Sonoma Inc. will begin offering the BeerTender March 1, and other stores nationwide will have it April 1.” The glossy black device boasts a proud LCD display which allows consumers to read the contents’ temperature, as…

The newest installment of what seems like a weekly occurance now — rediculous fun new beer-related gadgets and inventions — is the Smart Beer Coaster from Redwood City, CA company Sentilla.
